Chadi Bennani graduated in 2022 from the Cinema program at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Through a sensory approach to cinema, Chadi develops a practice that explores the relationship between memory and identity. During his studies, he directed his first short film, Nicole (2023), which was selected in competition at Hot Docs (2023). He then directed Here and There (2023), which opened the RIDM festival in 2023 and was later presented at the United Nations as part of the GMFF (2024), as well as at DOXA (2024).
Chadi is currently developing his first feature-length documentary, Beyond the Waves, recipient of the NFB Award at Doc Lab Montréal 2023 (RIDM Forum). The project was presented at the Sheffield DocFest market in 2025 and is supported by the DOC! program (Main Film). Alongside his career as a director, Chadi also works as a cinematographer and photographer.
